G.A.Y Bar

Downstairs, 259 Karangahape Road, Auckland Central, Auckland

G.A.Y Bar is an energetic and welcoming LGBTQ+ club that offers an upbeat atmosphere and friendly staff with regular drag shows and themed events.

For weather and atmosphere, aim for February or early March. You’ll get warm days and long evenings, and Pride gives you built-in plans. Interestingly, this makes it the longest running bar of its kind in the whole of New Zealand.

Just like any big city, Auckland has a big gay community.

Located below Pink Pony and next to Family Bar (to the right if you're walking out of Family Bar).

Pink Pony

The newest LGBT bar and venue to hit K Road.

If you want fewer crowds and cheaper rooms, late November or March still feels summery and keeps you close to the same nightlife. For some serious drinking and clubbing in Auckland, Karangahape Road (K' Road) is the place to come and is to be found on the southern side of the city center, in between Myers Park and the Mercury Theatre.

If you want a social sauna, Centurian Sauna offers steam, spa, and lounge areas. As well as, the New Zealand Maritime Museum, the Auckland Art Gallery, and of course, Sky Tower — the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere.
