Patrick Stewart Is Not Gay, Despite Report That Suggested The Actor Was Out
Patrick Stewart was mistakenly outed as gay in a report about Ellen Page’s coming out at an Human Right’s Campaign event on Friday.
In a lengthy, supportive article about Page’s decision to come out – and in the manner in which she did so – The Guardian’s Jane Czyzselska wrote, "Some gay people, such as Sir Patrick Stewart, think Page’s coming out speech is newsworthy because a high-profile and surprisingly politically aware young actress has decided not to play by the rules that so many closeted Hollywood actors are advised to follow if they are to enjoy mainstream success.”
The problem is, Patrick is not gay.

Sir Patrick Stewart says he’s “utterly flattered” to be mistaken for a gay man.
Last year The Guardian newspaper mistakenly identified the “X-Men” actor as gay in a story about Ellen Page coming out as a lesbian.
“Quite frankly, I was utterly flattered by that assumption,” the 74-year-old actor told The Advocate.
“I think this is a very distinctive honor that I’ve been awarded.
“There was never a moment where I made an intellectual choice that I would be a supporter of gay civil rights,” Stewart continued. The news articles, Tweets, and blog posts do not represent IMDb's opinions nor can we guarantee that the reporting therein is completely factual.
But the U.K's Guardian mistakenly outed the 73-year-old Stewart on Monday after he praised actress Ellen Page for coming out over the weekend.
In a piece about Page going public, columnist Jane Czyzselska wrote: "Some gay people, such as Sir Patrick Stewart, think Page's coming out speech is newsworthy because a high-profile and surprisingly politically aware young actress has decided not to play by the rules that so many closeted Hollywood actors are advised to follow if they are to enjoy mainstream success."
Stewart had a little fun with the snafu in a series of tweets, one of which referred to hanging out with "LGBT" people.

Jan 15, 2015. He actually married girlfriend Sunny Ozell in a ceremony last fall that was officiated by good friend Ian McKellen. The two who co-starred on Broadway last year posted several “cheeky” snaps on Instagram.
For the record, Patrick Stewart is not gay.

In fact, Stewart married 35-year-old jazz singer Sunny Ozell in September of last year in Lake Tahoe.
