"So I think it would still be news if straight congressional aides were caught making porn in a senate office. While the public and mass media are preoccupied withGeorge Santos and gay congressional staffers, Americans will be less likely to focus on critical policy issues: the climate crisis, U.S. aid to Israel, or the 2024 presidential election, to name a few."

Is gay sex 'more scandalous to the media'?

The language being used to talk about this specific incident matters, says Sheila Addison, LMFT.

"The media didn't identify Lauren Boebert as participating in 'a heterosexual sex act' when she was caught on video engaging in mutual groping with a male partner during 'Beetlejuice,'" Addison says.

Hours after the story broke, Cardin's office announced that a legislative aide had been dismissed but did not address reports linking a member of his staff to the sex tape.

SENATE DEMOCRATS AT ODDS WITH SCHUMER OVER BORDER TALKS: ‘TERRIBLY MISTAKEN’

The U.S. Senate has been rocked by a sex tape scandal after video of two men purportedly engaged in a sex act in Room 216 of the Hart Senate Office Building surfaced online.

The romp occurred between the seating locations of Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota) and Chris Coons(D-Delaware), according to Politico.

The staffer is no longer a Senate employee, Sen. Cardin confirmed though he did not explicitly state if the man was fired or not initially.

Since the video surfaced last Friday, it has raised security concerns for Capitol buildings.

“There are items that are classified, and the general public frankly should not have access to that and frankly if we got away from the idea of saying ‘everybody should be able to do xy and z it’s their right.’ I think we’d be better off for sure,” Retired Secret Service agent Jeff James told FOX5 Reporters.

The incident is not the first in recent history to raise security concerns about Capitol campus buildings including the January 6 attack on the Capitol and, more recently, on October 18 when hundreds of Pro-Palestinian protesters stormed into the Cannon House Office Building.

“Aidan you will forever be remembered as the Democrats favorite sloppy bottom…”

TheDesk reports that in November, Maese-Czeropski was promoted from his entry-level aide job. "The fact that two men together are still called out as engaging in 'gay sex' pretty much answers (the) question – yes, same-sex sex acts and self-identified gay, lesbian and bisexual people are treated differently by the media and society."

Michael Bronski, a Harvard University professor and author of "A Queer History of the United States for Young People," says history plays a role here.

"Historically gay sex has always been more scandalous to the media," says Bronski." "In part because it was non-heterosexual, but also because – until somewhat recently it was also illegal."

Marriage equality became the law of the land in 2015, but that didn't suddenly mean all LGBTQ+ relationships were accepted.

The dais where the graphic video was filmed is a place from which U.S. Senators have grilled high-profile presidential nominees, including justices of the Supreme Court.

Asked about the video, U.S. Capitol Police told Fox News "We are aware and looking into this."

Fox News' Chad Pergram contributed to this report.

Reports by Loomer that Maese-Czeropski was a registered foreign agent have been debunked by X notes – see below.

The alleged Democrat staffer, Aidan Maese-Czeropski, denied the video’s authenticity taking to his personal LinkedIn page to write: “This has been a difficult time for me, as I have been attacked for who I love to pursue a political agenda.

That's partially because sex, for some, remains largely about procreation.

“Now you do put a new definition to “Fuck around and find out”! All of the above,' Cardin said. Capitol Police are investigating an incident involving a sex tape filmed in the Senate Judicial Committee Hearing Room by a junior legislative aide to Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD).

Capitol Police are continuing to investigate the incident and could not say if there was any security camera footage recorded that evening.

The second individual engaged in sexual intercourse in the sex video filmed in the Senate hearing room is alleged to be a Georg Gauger, a German national studying at nearby Elliot School of International Affairs.

The staffer, who worked for Sen. Ben Cardin of Maryland, is no longer a Senate employee.

"I was angry," Cardin said of the scandal on Monday, "disappointed. The Daily Caller reported that the video was leaked in a chat and was "shared in a private group for gay men in politics."

Posts on social media claimed the alleged staffer worked for Sen.

Ben Cardin's office.

Monica Lewinsky has talked extensively in recent years about how the never-ending gossip about her sex life, including the details shared and language used, impacted her.

Need a news break? What it says about the way we discuss gay sex.

A gay sex scandal ignited the group chats of many a D.C. denizen in recent days in regards to a video that allegedly depicts a male Democratic Senate staffer having sex with another man in a Senate hearing room.

The room held U.S. Supreme Court nomination hearings; Senate intelligence hearings; and the historic 9/11 Commission. I was disappointed.'

Hours before the story broke, reports surfaced that an unnamed Cardin staffer had posted a social media photo of himself nude in a Hart hearing room

Cardin on Monday expressed confusion how the staffer - who appeared in a 2020 campaign video with Joe Biden (seen here) - had somehow booked the room, but reiterated how he is no longer with the office
