Home of the legendary drag queen Mado Lamotte, Cabaret Mado presents shows six nights a week throughout the year.
The best time to visit is late July through August. On the ground floor, female dancers perform for the crowds, and they even offer more intimate experiences in private cabins.
The lineup fills up quickly so you're guaranteed a night of camp and lively fun. Late February to early March is also a good time for winter culture, with Montréal en Lumière and the city’s general festival energy, even if it’s not LGBTQ-specific.
There are plenty of interesting places across Montreal where you can spend an evening, but if you're looking for a particularly fabulous bar or club then Montreal's Gay Village is the place to go.
They're a slightly cruisy crowd, enjoying adult themed videos that play on TVs throughout the venue and throughout the day. Formerly Cabaret Expose, it's a place for the gay guys of the village to relax and unwind somewhere that has a decidedly more mature theme than some other bars and clubs in the area. You get warm weather, long evenings, and the biggest LGBTQ+ programming of the year with Pride.
There is a female strip joint downstairs, while the upstairs cabaret is an historically queer-friendly space.
